This apartment is in the location of the old grain store, above the mill room of the lower mill. El Granero has two bedrooms and a fully equipped bathroom with bath, shower and bidet. The spacious sitting room/dining area and kitchen are open plan and lead on to a large covered terrace overlooking the waterfall.

The terrace is a beautiful place to sit and watch the varied wildlife in the river and woods.Its position, built into the rock and close to the river ensures that this house stays refreshingly cool in the hot summer months.

The weekly rates are per property, based on up to four people sharing, self-catering and include bed linen, towels and gas/electricity. The towels provided are for use in the house and not for the pool or sunbathing. You should bring your own pool towels or alternatively you may hire them at €4 per person. The house has a TV receiving Spanish channels and video/DVD player and fully equipped kitchen including an extra tap supplying purified drinking water. The fridge will be stocked with the basics for your first breakfast. A hair dryer is supplied.

Part week bookings of 3 or more nights are welcome and we offer a 10% discount on bookings of 2 weeks or more. Rentals may start on any day to suit our guests.

You may pay by cheque, bank transfer, PayPal or by credit card.

The house rental starts at 3:00pm on your arrival day.

The house rental finishes at 10:30am on your day of departure. If we have a same day turn round you will be asked to vacate your house by 10:30. If we do not have more guests arriving that day you will be able to extend your stay on payment of a €20 late occupancy charge applicable after 11:00.

The apartment is accessed by a two storey set of even, rustic style steps.

When you arrive you will be asked for a €50 breakage deposit which will be returned before you leave less any deductions to cover the cost of breakages.

The bar and terrace

The bar is located in the old mill room and still features much of the original milling equipment including the flour grinding stones. You can socialise with other guests enjoying the peace of La Ratonera with a drink in the bar or on the mill terrace. Imagine sitting under the stars on balmy summer evenings or using our communal barbecue.

In the lower mill, dating from the 16th century, is the gym, library and tourism information centre while the favourite place for most guests in the long hot Summer days is the large pool which uses an eco friendly system to clean the water, reducing the chemicals required and making the water silky smooth.

Molino la Ratonera is an ideal walking centre as it is located on a network of tracks. We offer a range of self-guided walks to enable your group to explore at its own pace. Although offically part of the municipality of Algarinejo, the nearest village, 2.5 kilometres away, is Zagra with shops, banks, bars, restaurants, swimming pool and castle. Both Zagra and Algarinejo embody the charm of Spain as it has been for decades where friendly, easygoing people welcome you into their lives.

The area is known as El Poniente Granadino (the west of Granada) and is rich in evidence of Andalucia's Moorish past with castles and watchtowers (atalayas) ever present on the horizon.
