The special Christmas package at Molino la Ratonera

The essence of a holiday at the mill is relaxation. Our special Christmas package combines the luxury of traditional home cooked Christmas food with a chance to escape from British winter weather. You decide the duration and start date of your holiday. We can even provide airport transfers. Forget the chores this Christmas; opt for relaxing, eating and drinking instead!

The upper millroom restaurant

We use El Cortijo, La Panadería and La Cocina for this self-indulgent holiday with all evening meals and Christmas dinner being served in our restaurant.

Christmas dinner in the sun!

After the Christmas feasting is over you can start to work off those extra pounds in the mill gym and get the New Year off to a good start.

The lower millroom gym

Those guests who would like to extend their stay until New Year's Eve will celebrate at the mill with 12 grapes, one to be eaten at each strike of the clock at midnight and then have the option of going to Zagra to celebrate Spanish style where the festivities continue until morning.

Snow in Spain! Typical winter weather in this part of Andalucia is warm sunny days followed by cold frosty nights. On the rare occasions it does snow the olive groves look beautiful but you have to be up early to enjoy it!

Our special Christmas package provides the following:
  • Traditional English 5 course Christmas dinner with homemade Christmas pudding.
  • Christmas supper with homemade Christmas cake.
  • A 3 course evening meal on all other evenings.
  • Fresh supplies for breakfast and lunch.
  • Mulled wine and mince pies on your arrival.
  • A bathroom pack of shower gels and shampoos.
  • Laundry facilities.

In the lower mill, dating from the 16th century, is the gym, library and tourism information centre while the favourite place for most guests in the long hot summer days is the large pool which uses an eco friendly system to clean the water, reducing the chemicals required and making the water silky smooth.

Location

Although offically part of the municipality of Algarinejo, the nearest village, 2.5 kilometres away, is Zagra with shops, banks, bars, restaurants, swimming pool and castle. Both Zagra and Algarinejo embody the charm of Spain as it has been for decades where friendly, easygoing people welcome you into their lives.

The area is known as El Poniente Granadino (the west of Granada) and is rich in evidence of Andalucia's Moorish past with castles and watchtowers (atalayas) ever present on the horizon.
